How Listening scores convert to a band
The full Listening paper has four sections and forty questions. As a rough guide for this ten-question section:
- 9–10 correctBand 7.5 and above
- 7–8 correctBand 6.5 – 7.0
- 5–6 correctBand 5.5 – 6.0
- 0–4 correctBand 5.0 or below
Common traps in IELTS Listening Section 1
- Corrections. Speakers change their minds. The answer is the final choice, not the first number or name you hear.
- Distractor prices. A normal price is often given before the current price. Read exactly what the form asks for.
- Conditions. Items mentioned for a special case (a padlock “if you leave things during a class”) are not the general requirement.
- Spelling and format. Names are spelled out for you; postcodes and codes must be copied exactly.
